Buckfield Sumner Solid Waste Transfer Station
The Towns of Buckfield and Sumner many years ago combined our facility to better serve both communities.
The Transfer Station is located at 114 Sumner Road on Route #140 between Buckfield and Sumner. The Transfer Station is open Wednesday and Saturday.
Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
If you have recently moved to Buckfield or Sumner, please go to your Town Office to obtain your
Transfer Station Permit Sticker.

Buckfield Fire Department is always looking for new members. If you are interested in joining our Department please stop by the Fire-Rescue Station or the Town Office for more information, or call the Fire Department at 207-336-2999.

Always remember to check the Maine Wildfire Danger and Class Day Report before burning by visiting https://www.maine.gov/dacf/mfs/wildfire_danger_report/index.html. If the Class day is High, Very High or Extreme outdoor burning will not be allowed.

Also, please display your E 9-1-1 address properly so that Emergency Vehicles will be able to locate your home quickly.

If this is an emergency and the office is closed, please call Oxford County Non-Emergency Dispatch at (207) 743-9554 and ask them to contact the General Assistance Director, Cameron Hinkley or Alyssa Phillips.

The Road Commissioner for the Town of Buckfield is Weldon Lucas. If this is a night time, holiday or weekend road emergency, please contact the Oxford County Non-Emergency Dispatch Center at 207-743-9554 and ask them to contact the Road Commissioner or Road Foreman.
In the spring of 2005, the Buckfield Rescue Unit, Inc. was dissolved as an Incorporation and became part of the municipality of Buckfield. The service still consists of dedicated on call employees and per-diem employees.
Buckfield Rescue's communities have been designated a Maine Heartsafe Community. HeartSafe Communities is a recognition program based on the "Chain of Survival", which has been implemented in other states and countries to help obtain this goal. Its purpose is to recognize the excellent work being done by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs throughout Maine, and to provide further opportunities to enhance community partnerships, resources and services to improve cardiovascular health, and decrease deaths due to cardiovascular-related events, including SCA, Heart Attack and Stroke.

The Buckfield Rescue Department holds its monthly business meetings on the first Monday of every month and the second Monday of the month if a holiday occurs. The meetings start at 7pm.
Buckfield Rescue can provide other, more specific programs upon request. Please do not hesitate to contact us about any of our public training programs.
