Old Church on the Hill Committee

 

The purpose of the Old Church on the Hill Committee is to facilitate the maintenance and repair as needed of the Old Church on the Hill, identified as Union Church on the National Historic Register as 80000245. In addition, the Committee shall explore ways of utilizing the Church in a manner which benefits the residents of the Town of Buckfield.

On June 10, 2025, the Town of Buckfield voted in the affirmative:

ARTICLE 36: To see if the town will vote to authorize the Select Board to lease or sell, the Old Church on the Hill, to an individual, non-profit organization, or other group under the conditions that the building will be substantially stabilized and repaired and the exterior of the building will remain similar to its original design.

The Select Board is currently in discussions with Maine Preservation and interested parties to determine the best course of action for the future protection of the Old Church on the Hill. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact the Town Office.
